Use your phone (or ask another couple to snap the picture).

Instead of just saying “Cheese,” create a moment that feels like you.

Maybe that’s…

  • laughing together
  • holding hands
  • walking toward the lake
  • sitting quietly on a bench
  • recreating your engagement or wedding pose
  • looking into each other’s eyes
  • dancing for a few seconds
  • sharing a hug that lasts just a little longer than normal

The goal isn’t to create the perfect Instagram photo.

The goal is to create a good memory.

Before You Snap the Picture…

Take thirty seconds and ask each other:

“What do we want this picture to remind us of five years from now?”

Then take your photo.

One Last Challenge

Before you move on, look at the picture together.

Don’t critique it.

Don’t zoom in.

Don’t point out your hair.

Instead, each of you answer this question:

“What is one thing I love about us that this picture reminds me of?”

Tell each other.

Save the photo. Because one day this picture won’t simply remind you what you looked like…

It will remind you that, during this weekend, you intentionally chose one another again.

And perhaps that’s the most beautiful picture of all.
